SAM LAY BLUES BAND stone blues
Sam Lay has the rare resume that links Howlin’ Wolf, Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop. As Chicago’s first-call drummer in the ’60s, Lay played behind the Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon and every other great bluesman. He also served in the ground-breaking, integrated Paul Butterfield Blues Band, backed up Bob Dylan on his first electric tour and played, uncredited, on Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisited album. If that weren’t enough, Sam was sought out as a drum tutor by a kid from Detroit named Jim Osterberg, who later mutated into Iggy Pop.
