VARIOUS ARTISTS - BLUES
american folk blues festival 1962-65 (5 cd box set)

Evidence has reconstructed from two different German record labels the highlights of Europe’s most famous blues festival from 1962 through 1965. This festival featured virtually every great American blues legend and they are captured here at their best. The box is comprised of approximately six hours of music on five CDs. The deluxe 20-page booklet, written by Bill Dahl of the Chicago Tribune, meticulously details the history of the festival, its musicians and the performances on each disc, which are issued by year.

This is one of the best collections ever. It is a joy to hear many of the artists at their best, just focusing on the music and trying to introduce a continent to the joy of the blues. It is especially exciting to hear the fun the artists had while performing as well as the vibrance and genuis of a young Matt "Guitar" Murphey. I have had this set for about 4 years, and continue to love it.
